Pinot grigio is a variety of white wine – the second most popular one in North America. The grapes used to make this wine are not green like other white wine making grapes, but rather they are greyish blue in colour. Grigio is the Italian word for grey. Pinot grigio is also known by its French name, pinot gris. Gris is the French word for grey.
